Background of the Study
In many parts of Nigeria, including Girei LGA in Adamawa State, traditional medicine remains a significant part of healthcare. Traditional medicine, often rooted in indigenous practices, plays an essential role in healthcare delivery, particularly in rural communities where access to modern healthcare may be limited. Advertising has been increasingly used to promote traditional medicine, raising awareness of its benefits and encouraging people to seek treatment.
According to Nwachukwu and Idris (2023), advertising can influence consumer behavior and promote traditional medicine by highlighting its effectiveness, affordability, and cultural relevance. This study focuses on the influence of advertising on the patronage of traditional medicine in Girei LGA, examining the types of advertisements used and the extent to which they affect consumer choices.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
While traditional medicine plays a vital role in Girei LGA, there is insufficient understanding of how advertising influences its patronage. Despite the growing popularity of traditional medicine, many people still rely on modern healthcare systems, often due to lack of awareness or misconceptions about the efficacy of traditional remedies.
Ibrahim and Jibril (2023) argue that advertising could bridge this gap by educating the public on the benefits of traditional medicine. However, the extent of advertising’s influence on the patronage of traditional medicine in Girei LGA remains underexplored. This study seeks to assess the influence of advertising on the patronage of traditional medicine in the region.
